More Schools Considering a Four-Day Week

I find it to be appalling to even think that school can even consider shorting the school week from five days to four just to save money. The reason I find this appalling is because we have so many other way   to trim from, such as afterschool programs and less secretary, but to take away from our children education is just a trouble thing to do. What I also found to inexcusable is the comment that the mother who said that she would love to have those long weeks for more family time. If she can’t even fit family time during the week what makes her think that she can fit it on an extra day off from school. And to be realistic who really would take advantage of all those four day weekends all the time ….

RAND Study: Charter School Parents are Happier

To me Charter schools are part of the reinvention of public education. Charter schools are public schools that have been freed of many restrictive rules and regulations; because of this I feel that parents feel that they have more freedom to their Childs education then in public schools. That why I feel that parents feel happier  in charter schools  vs. public schools as well as  charter schools are a lot smaller in size then public and you have a smaller community to interact with were as some public schools are so large that I can only image that parents don’t feel know small fish in a big pond .

Study Finds Minority Students Get Harsher Punishments

I myself have seen this crudity with a close friend son who is Mexican American  gate student and,who has never been sent to the office.until one day a boy comes up to him and hits him and he tried to walk away till the boy once again swings and thats when my friends son didn't take it anymore and slugs the boy right in the nose. My friends son got the same amount of day of suspension as the boy who was the not the minority and,who started the fight... I just feel that schools sometime not   always jump to conclusion before looking really into the problem.. The schools also expect the suspended student to take responsibility for his/her mistake but don't give them the resource to get a hold of the proper person to get their homework that's do the day the student gets back from their suspension. I find that to be wrong what happen to NCLB. We as parents really have to be proactive because we are our children's primary teacher and advocate let our voice be heard it a tactful way to our boards...

U.S. may spare schools from harsh penalties

I have to say that is really upsetting to require every student proficient in math and language arts by 2014. This to me is the most unrealistic goal I have heard of so far, and to have teacher evaluated by their students test score, what about those children who are English learner and the student who really do struggle in their academics. What now??? What can these poor teachers do? And this is considered the best solution to solve our problems in the educational field. Does congress really believe half the stuff they bring up in order for  reform happen ? What a joke!! I also think its much easier to judge and make changes to position that is not your own. What about the reasonability of the children and the parents. And really to have Schools shut down, turned over to outside groups or forced to replace their staffs. Because the federal government thinks that what’s best. I really find this appalling the thought of this and that is could ever happen to our public schools.
